Driver seeks $75K for collision in Mansfield

MARSHALL-An east Texas resident has filed a lawsuit asking for more than $75,000 after he was involved in a motor vehicle collision in Mansfield.

Rodney Parnell filed suit against Gelco Corp. on Oct. 19 in the Eastern District of Texas, Marshall Division.

The accident occurred on July 14, 2010 as Parnell was driving a 2008 Toyota Tacoma truck on Highway 84 in Mansfield. Parnell was preparing to stop behind another vehicle that was stopped at a traffic light when an employee of Gelco Corp failed to control his speed and drove into the back of Parnell's vehicle. Parnell's vehicle was pushed into the vehicle in front of him.

The defendant's driver is accused of driving too close and failing to control his speed.

The plaintiff is seeking damages for physical pain and mental anguish, medical expenses, physical impairment, loss of earnings and loss of earning capacity and interest.

Parnell is represented by Tyler attorney Keith Miller and Blake C. Erskine of Erskine & McMahon in Longview.

Jury trial is requested.

U.S. District Judge T. John Ward is assigned to the case.
