GALVESTON - Esteban Salamanca is suing BP Amoco Chemical Co. and BP Products North America after he was reportedly burned on the job two months ago.
In a lawsuit filed Oct. 29 in Galveston County District Court, plaintiff Salamanca claims he sustained painful, severe and permanent injuries as a result of a flash fire at the defendants' Texas City refinery on Sept. 13.
The original complaint does not elaborate on the circumstances which led to the alleged incident, but faults BP for failing to maintain a safe workplace as well as permitting the fire in question to occur.
Salamanca argues that he suffered injuries to his face, head and general body.
Consequently, the plaintiff seeks unspecified monetary damages and a jury trial.
He is represented by Roebuck, Thomas, Roebuck & Adams.
The case has been assigned to Galveston County 56th District Court Judge Lonnie Cox.
