SHERMAN-A former employee of a Denison plant has filed a lawsuit claiming he is a victim of racial discrimination.
Claiming violations of his civil rights, Frederick Keith Stubblefield filed suit against Denison Industries Inc. on Nov. 12 in the Eastern District of Texas, Sherman Division.
Stubblefield was employed by Denison Industries at their plant located in Denison for about five years. At the time of his termination, he was employed as an auditor in shipping and receiving.
Stubblefield states his supervisor consistently told racial jokes and demeaned him in front of other employees. Further, he claims his supervisor disclosed his personnel and employment details with other employees.
According to the lawsuit, the supervisor's conduct became so offensive that Stubblefield could no longer tolerate it and he resigned from his position.
The defendant is accused of unlawful employment practices and violations of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act.
The plaintiff is seeking actual damages, attorney's fees, interest, mental anguish, punitive damages and court costs.
Stubblefield is represented by Sherman attorney Ronald R. Huff.
U.S. District Judge Michael H. Schneider is assigned to the case.
