Capital One Bank has filed suit against Beaumont resident Joseph Ramsey, hoping to collect nearly $17,000 on a delinquent credit account.
The suit was filed Nov. 29 in Jefferson County District Court.
In its suit, Capital One asserts Ramsey entered into a credit account agreement with the bank.
The suit does not state when the account was opened or for what purposes.
"The defendant has ceased making payments on the account, thereby creating a default," the suit states, adding that on July 30 Capital One sent a letter demanding payment but Ramsey still refuses to repay the debt.
As of Oct. 14, $16,917.99 remained due and owing on the account, the suit states
Capital One is suing for actual damages, interest court costs and attorney's fees.
The lender is represented by Carrollton attorney Michael Scott.
Judge Donald Floyd, 172nd District Court, has been assigned to the case.
