Woman slips while buffing floor, sues Medi-Dyne Healthcare

While stripping wax, hospital worker Sandra Lacap slipped and fell.

Alleging Medi-Dyne Healthcare Companies failed to provide her with the proper foot wear, Lacap filed suit against the company Nov. 15 in Orange County District Court.

Court papers show that on March 4, 2009, Lacap, a Memorial Hermann Baptist Hospital employee, was stripping wax off the floor with a machine supplied by Medi-Dyne Healthcare when she slipped and fell.

"Defendant was suppose to provide special shoes to be worn while using the machine, but despite numerous requests failed to do so," the suit states, adding that Medi-Dyne Healthcare negligently failed to inspect its machine for defects and provide her with the proper gear.

Lacap is suing for her alleged past and future mental anguish, physical pain, lost wages, impairment, disfigurement and medical expenses.

Judge Dennis Powell, 163rd District Court, has been assigned to the case.
