Progressive Electrical Contractors has filed suit against a Beaumont church in hopes of recovering more than $88,000 on past due invoices.
Progressive filed its suit against Paradise Baptist Church on Dec. 20 in Jefferson County District Court.
Court papers show that the two parties entered into an agreement whereby Progressive would provide electrical services and materials for the church, located at 4390 Fannett Road.
"Defendant has approved and accepted the electrical services and materials, and became bound to pay plaintiff," the suit states. "Defendant failed and refused to do so. The remaining balance after some partial payments ... is $88,158."
Progressive alleges Paradise breached its contract, entitling the company to actual and consequential damages.
The plaintiff is represented by Houston attorney Andrew Whang.
Judge Gary Sanderson, 60th District Court, is presiding over the case.
