Intersection collision results in suit

Beaumont residents Brittany Crosson and Reginald Richard are suing Carlos Lopez for allegedly illegally entering an intersection and striking their vehicle.

The suit was filed Dec. 15 in Jefferson County District Court.

In their suit, the plaintiffs allege that on Nov. 6, 2009, they were traveling southbound on Houston Street when Lopez, who was traveling west on Corley Avenue, illegally entered the intersection and struck their vehicle.

They claim Lopez negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, control his speed and apply his brakes in a timely manner.

The plaintiffs are suing for their alleged past and future mental anguish, pain, impairment, lost wages and medical expenses.

They are represented by Beaumont attorney Dru Montgomery of the Heartfield Law Firm.

Judge Gary Sanderson, 60th District Court, is presiding over the case.
