Contractor claims Galveston homeowner won't pay for storm repairs

GALVESTON A Galveston County contractor claims that a Jamaica Beach resident owes him about $11,500 for storm repairs, recent court documents say.

According to Frank Marczak's suit against Sidney J. Wolfensen, the homeowner promised to pay the complainant in exchange for remedial and restoration work to his residence, but has failed and refused to tender payment.

The original petition was filed Jan. 3 in Galveston County Court at Law No. 3.

Wolfensen hired Marczak after Hurricane Ike damaged his home. The requested tasks included the replacing a garage door glass, plugging drains and removing vent pipes from a pre-existing bathroom and reconstructing the downstairs area, the suit says.

Marczak insists he performed the work in a good and workmanlike manner.

He is represented by attorney Thomas W. McQuage of Galveston.

The case has been assigned to Galveston County Court at Law No. 3 Judge Christopher Dupuy.
