Man claims bad gasoline ruined two vehicles

GALVESTON - Alleging he bought contaminated gasoline almost two years ago, a Fayette County man is suing Ampak Eagle Inc. for approximately $6,000.

John Griffin claims that his Chrysler 300 and Kia Sorento sustained damages to their engines after he filled both vehicles at a service station in Bacliff on April 29, 2009, a lawsuit filed Jan. 11 in Galveston County Court at Law No. 2 says.

The original petition suspects fuel contamination as the proximate cause of the incident in question and shows that the defendant received complaints from customers in regards to the fuel around the same time when the complainant presented his.

Griffin reported the supposed damage to his insurer, State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Co., which in turn decided to seek legal action against Ampak Eagle.

The Garner Law Firm is representing the plaintiff, and Galveston County Court at Law No. 2 Judge Barbara Roberts is presiding over the litigation.

Cause No. 64,478
