A Beaumont man has filed suit against the driver who he claims failed to obey a traffic pattern and slammed into the side of a bus.
John Bowie claims he was riding in a Beaumont city bus on Feb. 11, 2009, when defendant John Randy Kura, who was driving a vehicle for defendant Knife River Corp., turned from a straight-only lane and crashed into the bus.
According to the complaint filed Jan. 12 in Jefferson County District Court, Bowie incurred medical costs, lost his earnings and his earning capacity and suffered physical impairment, physical pain and mental anguish.
Kura negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to timely apply the brakes and failed to keep the vehicle on a direct path, the suit states.
In his complaint, Bowie is seeking an unspecified judgment, plus other relief the court deems just.
Jonathan C. Juhan of Beaumont will be representing him.
The case has been assigned to Judge Gary Sanderson, 60th District Court.
