Galveston woman sues over wreck in La Marque

GALVESTON A Galveston County woman has filed suit over a two-vehicle collision in La Marque which occurred more than a year ago.

Ta-Tanisha Edmond claims that Gabriela Lucio of Dickinson ran a red light and struck her vehicle on May 18, 2009, a lawsuit filed Feb. 10 in Galveston County Court at Law No. 3 says.

According to the original petition, Edmond was traveling south on Newman Drive while Lucio drove east on FM 1765 when the incident occurred. A minor passenger was accompanying the plaintiff, the suit says.

The plaintiff faults Lucio for failing to yield the right of way and not maintaining a proper lookout and blames Jose Serrano of Pearland for entrusting the vehicle to her.

Edmond insists that she and the child suffered "painful, severe and permanent injuries."

Consequently, the plaintiff seeks unspecified monetary damages and a jury trial.

She is represented by Burwell Nebout.

The case has been assigned to Galveston County Court at Law No. 3 Judge Christopher Dupuy.
