Latest Hurricane Ike-related insurance suits filed in Jefferson County

A total of five new lawsuits against insurance companies over Hurricane Ike damage claims were filed in Jefferson County District Court, Feb. 14-19, 2011.

The following complaints were filed:

  • Isaac Cheatham Jr. of 6320 Wayside St. in Beaumont alleges Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied his claim for damages caused to his property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. Cheatham will be represented by Paul A. Smith Jr. and Carlos E. Solis of Solis and Smith in San Antonio and by Danny R. Scott Jr. of the Law Office of Danny R. Scott Jr. in Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: A189-359.

  • Charles and Sandra Durgin of 6313 West Port Arthur Rd. in Port Arthur allege Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied their claim for roof, structural, water and wind damages caused to their property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. TWIA denied their claim after it assigned Allied American Adjusting Company to investigate, according to the complaint. The Durgins will be represented by Michael R. Ramsey of the Mostyn Law Firm in Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: B189-354.

  • Tommie and Hattie Griffin of 2338 15th St. in Port Arthur allege Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied their claim for foundation, structure, roof, water and wind damages caused to their property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. The Griffins will be represented by Michael R. Ramsey of the Mostyn Law Firm in Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: D189-393.

  • Michael and Stone Hess of 2465 Laurel in Beaumont allege Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied their claim for damages caused to their property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. The Hesses will be represented by Clint Brasher and Joe Muckleroy of Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: A189-387.

  • Treva Reed of 2445 Rusk St. in Beaumont alleges Texas Farmers Insurance Company denied his claim for contents, structure, roof, water and wind damages caused to his property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. Reed will be represented by J. Steve Mostyn of the Mostyn Law Firm in Houston. Jefferson County District Court case number: A189-374.
