Santa Fe collision subject of lawsuit

GALVESTON A Texas City man has filed suit over a side collision in Santa Fe.

William F. Hinson claims that Melissa A. Botkin of Dickinson failed to yield the right of way to him on Highway 6 thus caused his vehicle to collide with hers, a lawsuit filed Feb. 24 in Galveston County Court at Law No. 1 says.

Hinson and Botkin were traveling in different directions along the highway. The defendant was attempting to turn into a private drive at the time of the alleged accident, the suit says.

In addition to not yielding to Hinson, the original petition blames Botkin for not timely applying her brakes, not maintaining a proper lookout and not driving in a single lane.

The plaintiff consequently seeks unspecified monetary damages and a jury trial.

He is represented by Bettison, Doyle, Apffel & Guarino, P.C.

The case has been assigned to Galveston County Court at Law No. 1 Judge John Grady.
