Finance company sues Dickinson couple to collect car payments

GALVESTON National Auto Finance Co. seeks to recover about $12,000 from Dickinson residents Latasha and Deanthony Briller for a vehicle they purchased from a Kansas dealership.

According to a lawsuit filed March 18 in Galveston County District Court, the Brillers owe the plaintiff $12,467 for a 2005 Nissan Altima they bought at Laird Noller Ford Inc. in Topeka, Kan., in December 2007.

The original petition explains that the defendants executed a retail installment contract, which they have reportedly breached.

"The defendants failed to perform the obligations under the contract and are now wholly in default," the suit says.

It adds despite the plaintiff's demands, the Brillers "failed and refused to pay the indebtedness owed under the contract."

Beasley, Hightower & Hartmann P.C. is representing the complainant, and Galveston County 10th District Court Judge David Garner is presiding over the case.
