Home healthcare nurse claims sexual harassment by director

GALVESTON A Harris County registered nurse has filed a sexual harassment lawsuit against her employer.

Demetri Norris's suit targets Living Hope Home Healthcare Inc. and director Tiju Thomas, alleging Thomas sent Norris sexually explicit emails last year.

The original petition was filed March 11 in Galveston County District Court.

Norris has been an employee of the defendant since January 2009. She claims that Thomas coerced her to decide between his sexual demands and foregoing job-related benefits on continued employment.

The plaintiff then filed a complaint of sexual discrimination with the Texas Workforce Commission Civil Rights Division.

"Living Hope Home Healthcare engaged in sex discrimination with malice or reckless indifference to the plaintiff's rights," the suit says.

"The plaintiff has exhausted all administrative prerequisites to bringing this action."

Norris consequently seeks unspecified monetary damages.

She is represented by attorney Jack D. Nolan of Houston.

The case has been assigned to Galveston County 10th District Court Judge David Garner.
