Citibank seeks $10K of past due account

Citibank is suing Beaumont resident Horatio Dumas, alleging the man owes more than $10,000 on a past due credit card account.

The petition was filed March 28 in Jefferson County District Court.

Court records show Dumas opened an account with Citibank and had advanced dollar amounts put on a credit card.

The suit does not say when he opened the account, only that Dumas allegedly stopped making payments.

On Jan. 20 Citibank sent a letter demanding payment in full. However, Dumas has failed to make a single payment, according to the suit.

As of March 8, the amount owed to Citibank is $10,666, the lawsuit states.

Citibank is suing for actual damages and all court costs.

Carrollton attorney Michael Scott represents the company.

Judge Milton Shuffield, 136th District Court, has been assigned to the case.
