Beaumont resident Courtney Thibodeaux has filed suit against Centerpoint Energy and one of its employees, Tim Irvin, who allegedly caused an automobile collision last September.
The suit was filed April 11 in Jefferson County District Court.
Court records show that on Sept. 16 Thibodeaux was traveling north on Dowlen Road in Beaumont when Irvin "failed to yield the right of way while making a left turn" and struck her.
"Due to Irvin's negligent operation of his vehicle, Thibodeaux suffered permanent and disabling injuries requiring extensive and ongoing medical treatment," the suit states.
The suit also asserts Centerpoint should have known Irvin was a "reckless" and "incompetent driver."
The plaintiff is suing for her alleged past and future medical expenses, mental anguish, pain, impairment, disfigurement and lost wages, plus all court costs.
Houston attorney Michael Nacol represents her.
Judge Donald Floyd, 172nd District Court, has been assigned to the case.
