Latest Hurricane Ike-related insurance suits filed in Jefferson County

A total of four new lawsuits against insurance companies over Hurricane Ike damage claims were filed in Jefferson County District Court, May 2-6, 2011.

The following complaints were filed:

  • Earl Cantue of 3785 Steelton St. in Beaumont alleges Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied their claim for contents, foundation, structure, roof, water and wind damages caused to his property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. Cantue will be represented by Michael R. Ramsey of The Mostyn Law Firm in Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: E189-962.

  • James and Rickey Granger Sr. of 5942 Greenmoor Lane in Beaumont allege Farmers Insurance Exchange and Texas Farmers Insurance Company denied their claim for damages caused to their porch after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. The Grangers will be represented by J. Steve Mostyn of The Mostyn Law Firm in Houston. Jefferson County District Court case number: A189-928.

  • Kerry Payne of 2125 Gilbert St. in Beaumont alleges Geovera Specialty Insurance Company minimized his claim for damages caused to his property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. Geovera minimized Payne's claim after it hired adjuster Scott Listuon to investigate, according to the complaint. Payne will be represented by John Pat Parsons of Lindsay, Lindsay and Parsons in Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: E189-935.

  • Stuart Family Partnership doing business as James Stuart Construction of 12841 Highway 90 in Beaumont alleges Texas Windstorm Insurance Association failed to properly investigate or pay its claim for damages caused to its property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. Stuart Family Partnership will be represented by E. Hart Green of Weller, Green, Toups and Terrell in Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: B189-937.
