Suit filed over rear-end collision

Kenneth Rice has filed suit against Jonathan Theriot for allegedly causing a rear-end collision in March.

The suit was filed July 5 in Jefferson County District Court.

According to the lawsuit, on March 30 Rice was riding as a passenger in a vehicle traveling east on Lavaca Street in Beaumont when Theriot crashed into a vehicle, which was pushed into the rear of Rice's vehicle.

The suit alleges the defendant negligently failed to keep a proper lookout and apply his brakes in a timely manner.

The plaintiff is suing for his alleged past and future medical expenses, mental anguish, pain, impairment, lost wages and disfigurement, plus all court costs.

Pearland attorney Bristol Baxley represents him.

Judge Gary Sanderson, 6oth District Court, has been assigned to the case.
