Mom sues after son killed in motorcycle wreck

GALVESTON - A Galveston County woman has filed suit in response to a recent two-vehicle accident which claimed the life of her son.

Barbara Taylor claims that a vehicle driven by Texas City resident Jessica Taylor struck Mark Jasek as he was operating his motorcycle at a La Marque intersection on Aug. 4.
Jasek died as a result of his injuries from the alleged collision.

The suit was filed Aug. 8 in Galveston County District Court.

It names Paulo Patino of Texas City as a co-defendant since it was his vehicle which reportedly caused the accident in question.

Court papers show Jasek traveling westbound on FM 519 and coming upon an intersection with Irene Street while Jessica Taylor drove eastbound on FM 519 when she attempted a left-hand turn onto Irene and collided with him.

The original petition says the apparent impact knocked Jasek from the bike.

"As a result of the collision, Mr. Jasek suffered severe injuries resulting in his death," the suit states.

Jessica Taylor is faulted for failing to maintain a safe distance, failing to maintain a proper lookout, failing to stop and failing to yield the right of way.

Consequently, Barbara Taylor seeks unspecified monetary damages and a jury trial.

She is represented by Burwell Nebout.

The case has been assigned to Galveston County 212th District Court Judge Susan Criss.
