A Jefferson County woman claims she sustained injuries when she was in a multi-car collision.
Kristin Marie McCall filed a lawsuit Sept. 30 in Jefferson County District Court against Shahryar Hussain.
In her complaint, McCall alleges she drove north in the 3600 block of N. Dowlen Road on July 29 when she slowed to a stop at an upcoming intersection. Suddenly, Hussain struck the vehicle behind McCall, which in turn rear-ended McCall's vehicle, according to the complaint.
In addition to her injuries, McCall incurred medical costs; experienced physical pain, suffering, physical impairment, disfigurement and mental anguish; and lost earnings and his earning capacity, the suit states.
McCall blames Hussain for causing the collision, saying he negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to keep a clear distance between his vehicle and hers, drove too fast and failed to timely apply his brakes.
In her complaint, McCall seeks a judgment in excess of the minimal limits of Jefferson County District Court, plus pre- and post-judgment interest, costs and other relief the court deems just.
J. Trenton Bond and Chris M. Portner of Portner and Bond in Beaumont will be representing her.
Judge Milton Shuffield, 136th District Court, has been assigned to the case.
