Left turn collision results in litigation

Beaumont resident Jerome Alford has filed suit against Dominga Lopez, also a Beaumont resident, for striking his vehicle while making a left turn.

The suit was filed Oct. 7 in Jefferson County District Court.

According to the lawsuit, on Nov. 23, 2009, Alford was traveling on 16th Street in Beaumont when Lopez allegedly failed to yield the right of way when turning left, slamming into his vehicle.

The suit alleges the defendant negligently failed to avoid the collision in addition to failing to keep a proper lookout and yield the right of way.

The plaintiff is suing for his alleged past and future medical expenses, mental anguish, pain, impairment, disfigurement and lost wages, plus all court costs.

Beaumont attorney Jonathan Juhan represents him.

Judge Milton Shuffield, 136th District Court, is assigned to the case.
