Claiming she slipped on a slippery substance in the produce aisle two years ago, Beaumont local Maria Petty has filed suit against Wal-Mart Stores.
The suit was filed Oct. 21 in Jefferson County District Court.
According to the lawsuit, on Oct. 21, 2009, Petty was shopping at an area Wal-Mart when she slipped and fell on a slippery substance near the produce department.
Petty claims she injured her neck, back and legs in the fall.
The suit alleges Wal-Mart negligently failed to inspect and maintain its premises and warn shoppers of the dangers.
The plaintiff is suing for her alleged past and future medical expenses, mental anguish, pain, impairment, disfigurement and lost wages, plus all court costs.
