A plaintiff injured in an automobile collision was recently awarded more than $3,000 for her past medical expenses.
Vidor resident Jamie Sampson filed suit against Port Neches local Roland Junca on Aug. 27, 2009, in Jefferson County District Court, alleging the defendant ran a stop sign and struck her vehicle.
The case went to trial last week in Judge Milton Shuffield's 136th District Court and ended with a verdict in favor of Sampson.
Court records show that on Sept. 14, 2007, Sampson was traveling on Saba Lane in Port Arthur when Junca "failed to stop at a stop sign and slammed into the plaintiff.
According to the charge of the court filed on Nov. 4, jurors found Junca 100 percent negligent in causing the collision.
Jurors awarded Sampson $3,059 for her past medical expenses, the charge shows.
However, jurors declined to award Sampson any damages for her alleged mental anguish and impairment.
