Wal-Mart named in slip & fall

Area resident Ana Mendoza has filed a slip and fall lawsuit against Wal-Mart Stores, Texas.

The suit was filed Nov.14 in Jefferson County District Court.

According to the lawsuit, on March 19 Mendoza was shopping at the Wal-Mart on Dowlen Road. While waiting to checkout at the register, she slipped in a puddle of water.

The suit alleges Wal-Mart negligently failed to train its employees; inspect and maintain its premises; and warn shopper of the hazardous condition.

The plaintiff is suing for her alleged past and future medical expenses, mental anguish, pain, impairment, disfigurement and lost wages, plus all court costs.

Beaumont attorney Clint Brasher represents her.

Judge Bob Wortham, 58th District Court, has been assigned to the case.
