Rear-end collision on Nederland Avenue leads to lawsuit

A Jefferson County woman has filed suit against the driver who she claims rear-ended a car, causing her to sustain injuries.

Bonnie Saulter claims she was riding with defendant Dana Barnes, who was driving west on Nederland Avenue in Nederland on April 12, when Barnes failed to control her speed and rear-ended the vehicle in front of her.

In addition to her injuries, Saulter incurred medical costs and experienced physical pain, suffering, physical impairment and mental anguish because of the collision, according to the complaint filed Jan. 26 in Jefferson County District Court.

Barnes negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to keep a proper distance from the vehicle in front of her and drove too fast, the suit states.

She is seeking a judgment in excess of the minimum jurisdictional limits of Jefferson County District Court, plus pre- and post-judgment interest, costs and other relief the court deems just.

Eric Paul Edwardson of Beaumont will be representing her.

The case has been assigned to Judge Gary Sanderson, 60th District Court.
