Toyota Motor Credit Corp. has filed suit against Beaumont resident Iketha Saunders, alleging she has possession of collateral on a past due account of more than $33,000.
The suit was filed Feb. 1 in Jefferson County District Court.
According to the lawsuit, on Aug. 1, 2008, Elizabeth Calhoun, now deceased, entered into a motor vehicle retail installment sales contract.
As of Jan. 4 there remains due and owing a sum of $33,072.96.
The suit says Saunders is related to Calhoun and currently has possession of the collateral.
Toyota is asking the court to award judgment that it may take possession of the collateral and that proceeds of the sale be applied toward plaintiff's lien.
Dallas attorney Jeremiah Hayes represents the company.
Judge Milton Shuffield, 136th District Court, is assigned to the case.
