GALVESTON - Local resident Norma A. Solis has filed suit over a multiple-vehicle pileup in Galveston more than a year ago.
Recent court documents filed Feb. 22 in Galveston County District Court show Solis was a passenger in defendant Linda Williams Terrell's 2001 Honda Civic when the vehicle became caught in a chain reaction at the intersection of 61st Street and Interstate 45 on Sept. 22, 2010.
According to the original petition, the Civic came to a halt when a 2008 Toyota Tacoma driven by Constance Eileen Green stopped directly in front of it with Terrell initially avoiding a collision.
The suit further explains that a vehicle driven by Glassen Walters also made a stop behind the defendant's car without hitting any other automobiles yet the latter was "struck from behind."
Solis states a Ford F-150 pickup truck driven by Eddie Dyer, which was behind Walters's vehicle, failing "to stop in time to avoid striking" Walters.
"The force of that impact was so great that it propelled Mr. Walters's vehicle forward, causing it to impact the rear, passenger-side bumper of the defendant's vehicle, which in turn was thrust forward into the rear of Ms. Greene's car at the front of the line," the suit says.
It adds the complainant sustained injuries as a result of the "violent" collision.
Consequently, Solis seeks unspecified monetary damages.
Attorney J. Michael Hughes of League City is representing the plaintiff, and Galveston County 56th District Court Judge Lonnie Cox is presiding over the case.
