Negligent rug placement caused trip & fall, suit alleges

A Port Arthur city employee is alleging a negligent rug placement at city hall caused her to trip and fall.

Rebecca Slagle filed suit against CCAP Inc., doing business as Sanserve Building Services, on Feb. 23 in Jefferson County District Court.

According to her lawsuit, on July 13, 2010, Slagle was working at Port Arthur City Hall when she "tripped and fell over a rug negligently placed by the door by defendant's ... employee."

The suit does not state how the rug was negligently placed but does contend Slagle injured her right arm, elbow, hand and shoulder in the fall caused by the rugs placement.

The plaintiff is suing for her alleged past and future medical expenses, mental anguish, pain, impairment and lost wages, plus all court costs.

Beaumont attorney Marc Henry of Henry & Fuller represents her.

Judge Gary Sanderson, 6oth District Court, is assigned to the case.
