GALVESTON - Local resident Lisa Kripas claims she fell last year at a Kemah property which she was hired to clean, recent court documents say.
A lawsuit filed Feb. 29 against Global Bird Management Inc., Chip Jamison Construction Inc., Houston resident Chip Jamison and Kemah local and property owner Daniel J. Sicurella in Galveston County District Court asserts Kripas "shattered" her left ankle when she slipped descending the three-story structure's exterior steps on July 29, 2011.
Sicurella and Global Bird Management had the plaintiff and an acquaintance perform the custodial services in exchange for monetary payment at the time of the incident in question, according to the original petition.
"The plaintiff fell partway down the flight of steps before being able to stop herself," the suit says.
Kripas adds she her left ankle buckled underneath the weight of her body during the fall, stating the supposed injury required hospitalization, specialized surgical intervention and the insertion of several metal pins in an attempt at reconstruction as well as physical therapy.
She faults Sicurella and Global Bird Management for failing to address and remedy the supposedly dangerous condition which the stairway posed.
In turn, Jamison and his namesake construction business are blamed for improperly building the subject steps.
The plaintiff consequently seeks unspecified monetary damages.
Attorney J. Michael Hughes of League City is representing Kripas, and Galveston County 56th District Court Judge Lonnie Cox is presiding over the case.
