PA couple alleges roof collapsed on them, Paradise Condos sued

Port Arthur locals Tryone and Debra Phillips have filed suit against Paradise Condos, alleging a roof collapsed on them while at the complex's premises.

The suit was filed March 23 in Jefferson County District Court.

According to the lawsuit, while inside apartment 119, the roof collapsed, severely injuring the couple.

The suit does not give any more details on how the incident transpired. However, the suit does allege that the defendant negligently failed to inspect and maintain its premises.

On top of punitive damages, the plaintiffs are suing for their alleged past and future medical expenses, mental anguish, pain, impairment, disfigurement and lost wages, plus all court costs.

Provost Umphrey attorney James Payne of Beaumont represents them.

Judge Donald Floyd, 172nd District Court, is assigned to the case.
