Woman alleges medical providers didn't adequately treat burned foot

Memorial Hermann Baptist Beaumont Hospital

Beaumont resident Miyoka Brown has filed suit against several medical providers, alleging the defendants did not adequately treat her burned foot.

The suit was filed March 26 in Jefferson County District Court and names Dr. Jeff Alford, Dr. Tiffany Egbe and Memorial Hermann Baptist Beaumont Hospital as defendants.

According to the suit, Brown sought treatment from Drs. Alford and Egbe for a burn on her foot. The treatment began on March 13, 2010, and lasted to March 16, 2010, and consisted of putting Brown's burned left foot in water and prescribing her pain medication.

Because of her lack of treatment, Brown claims she suffers from burned skin.

She alleges the defendants fell below the standard of care in her treatment.

Brown is seeking an award of exemplary damages and is also suing for her alleged past and future medical expenses, mental anguish, pain, impairment, disfigurement and lost wages, plus all court costs.

Houston attorney Rodney Moton represents her.

Judge Bob Wortham, 58th District Court, is assigned to the case.
