Women involved in lawsuit after car hits guardrail

A Beaumont woman alleges she sustained back and knee injuries after a driver failed to control her speed and slid into a guardrail.

Angela Wilson filed a lawsuit March 13 in Jefferson County District Court against Angela Carson.

In her complaint, Wilson claims she rode in a vehicle Carson drove on the highway on Feb. 4, 2011. Suddenly, Carson lost control of the vehicle and slid into a guardrail, according to the complaint.

In addition to her injuries, Wilson suffered physical pain and mental anguish, incurred medical costs and sustained physical impairment, the suit states. She also lost wages, the complaint says.

Wilson blames Carson for causing the collision, saying she negligently failed to control her vehicle and hit a guardrail.

Wilson seeks a sum in excess of the minimum jurisdictional limits of Jefferson County District Court, plus costs, pre- and post-judgment interest and other relief the court deems just.

Steven C. Toups of Weller, Green, Toups and Terrell in Beaumont will be representing her.

Judge Bob Wortham, 58th District Court, has been assigned to the case.
