MARSHALL - An oil rig worker has filed a personal injury lawsuit that claims his employer and other companies failed to monitor a well site, which ultimately resulted in an explosion when the rig hit gas pockets.
Victor Boyd filed suit against Enerplus Resources (USA) Corp., Pason Systems USA Corp., Bos Solutions Inc., M-I doing business as M-I Drilling Fluids doing business as M-I Swaco and Halliburton Energy Services Inc. on March 30 in the Eastern District of Texas, Marshall Division.
The incident occurred on Sept. 8, 2011, as Boyd was working on a well near Watford City, N.D. Due to encountering gas pockets while the rig was drilling, an explosion occurred in which Boyd suffered severe burns.

The plaintiff is asking the court for an award of damages for physical pain, suffering, mental anguish, loss of wages, loss of earning capacity, physical impairment and disability, medical expenses, exemplary damages, interest and court costs.

A jury trial is requested.
