Groves resident James Nunez is suing Port Arthur local Darlene Sumrall for allegedly backing into his vehicle.
The suit was filed April 2 in Jefferson County District Court.
According to the lawsuit, on Nov. 23 Nunez was driving his 1989 Mercedes on Highway 347 when Sumrall, who was backing out from a private drive, struck his vehicle.
The suit faults the defendant for negligently failing to keep a proper lookout and apply her brakes in a timely manner.
The plaintiff is suing for his alleged past and future medical expenses, mental anguish, pain, impairment and lost wages, plus all court costs.
Port Arthur attorney Carl Parker represents him.
Judge Milton Shuffield, 136th District Court, is assigned to the case.
