Wal-Mart sued after customer bruises knee

Juhan

An Orange County woman has filed a personal injury lawsuit against Wal-Mart after she slipped in liquid and bruised her knee.

Lisa Woods filed suit against Wal-Mart Stores Texas and Wal-Mart Stores Inc. on March 8, 2010, in Orange County District Court. The defendant removed the case to the Eastern District of Texas, Beaumont Division on April 17.

The incident occurred on April 29, 2010, at an Orange County Wal-Mart. Woods states that she was injured as she slipped and fell in a liquid on the wood laminate floor. The lawsuit states she suffered a "severe injury to her neck, shoulders and knee, with tenderness and bruising."

According to the allegations, there were no warning signs in or around the area at the time of Woods' fall.

The defendants are accused of negligence for failing to protect and safeguard Woods from unreasonably dangerous conditions on the premises or to warn of their existence.

The plaintiff is seeking an award of damages for medical expenses, loss of earnings and earning capacity, physical impairment, physical pain, mental anguish, disfigurement, interest, and court costs.

Woods is represented by Beaumont attorney Jonathan C. Juhan.

U.S. District Judge Thad Heartfield is assigned to the case.
