GALVESTON - A Minnesota woman is suing a local auto dealership over injuries she sustained during a visit.
Sibley County, Minn., resident Susanne Aranda filed suit against Group 1 Automotive Inc., doing business as Lexus of Clear Lake, on May 7 in Galveston County Court at Law No. 1 alleging she tripped on a rug "and fell full force to the floor."
Aranda was at the dealership to visit her nephew and look at cars.
According to the suit, she "was seriously injured as a result of a dangerous condition in that the defendant had a dangerous area rug."
The suit alleges the dealership "negligently permitted the area rug to be dangerously placed, negligently or willfully allowed such condition to continue and negligently or willfully failed to warn the plaintiff of the condition of the area rug."
The plaintiff suffered a strained neck, pain in her left knee, whiplash and loss of consciousness as a result of the event in question, the suit states.
Aranda insists that she received no warnings about the supposedly unsafe condition.
A jury trial is requested.
Attorney Al Flores Jr. of Houston is representing the plaintiff.
Galveston County Court at Law No. 1 Judge John Grady is presiding over the case.
