Port Arthur women sue after rear-end collisioon

Two Port Arthur women allege they incurred medical costs after a driver rear-ended their vehicle.

Linda J. McNeal and Amber Brown filed a lawsuit June 18 in Jefferson County District Court against Beverly B. Hebert.

In their complaint, McNeal and Brown allege they were stopped in a vehicle at an intersection on April 27, 2011, when Hebert struck the back of their vehicle.

In addition to their medical costs, McNeal and Brown experienced physical pain, suffering, physical impairment and mental anguish and lost their earning capacity, according to the complaint.

They blame Hebert for causing the collision, saying she negligently failed to control her speed, failed to keep a safe distance between her vehicle and Hebert's and failed to observe traffic signals.

McNeal and Brown seek actual damages, pre- and post-judgment interest, costs and other relief the court deems just.

Ryan C. Scott of The Scott Law Firm in Beaumont will be representing them.

Judge Gary Sanderson, 60th District Court, has been assigned to the case.
