Woman files suit after being struck while pulling out of parking lot

A Louisiana woman has filed suit against the driver who she claims failed to yield the right-of-way as he was pulling out of a parking lot.

Angela Lacour claims she was driving in the 4900 block of State Highway 87/Gulfway Drive on July 9, 2010, when defendant Ewell Garlow Jr., who was pulling out of Walgreens, failed to yield the right-of-way and struck her vehicle.

Because of the collision, Lacour incurred medical costs, experienced physical pain and suffering and lost wages, according to the complaint filed July 5 in Jefferson County District Court.

Garlow negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to yield the right-of-way, failed to keep a reasonable distance from Lacour's vehicle and pulled in front of Lacour's vehicle.

In her complaint, Lacour seeks a judgment within the jurisdictional limits of Jefferson County District Court, plus pre-judgment interest at the maximum rate allowed by law, post-judgment interest at the legal rate, costs and other relief the court deems just.

Myra Gregory of Gregory Law Firm in Port Neches will be representing her.

The case has been assigned to Judge Bob Wortham, 58th District Court.
