AT&T Advertising is suing George Ramirez, doing business as Ramirez Carpet & Tile, claiming he owes more than $10,000 in unpaid advertising.
The suit was filed July 25 in Jefferson County District Court. Ramirez Carpet & Tile is a Beaumont business.
According to the lawsuit, AT&T Advertising and Ramirez entered into a contract for advertising in the company's yellow pages directory.
Ramirez agreed to pay for the ads and AT&T Advertising published the advertisements, the suit states.
"Defendant defaulted on the contracts by failing to make the required monthly payments," the suit states. "Accordingly, there presently exists an outstanding balance in the amount of $10,781.30."
The suit accuses the defendant of breach of contract and also liable under the equitable action of quantum meruit.
AT&T Advertising is suing for actual damages, interest, and all court costs, including attorney's fees.
Attorney Kimberly Harris of the Dallas law firm Beasley, Hightower & Hartmann represents the company.
Judge Milton Shuffield, 136th District Court, is assigned to the case.
