An Orange County man claims he sustained back injuries after a driver attempted to pass the vehicle in which he was riding, causing a collision.
Christopher Bradberry filed a lawsuit July 26 in Jefferson County District Court against David Charles Fox.
In his complaint, Bradberry claims he rode in a Honda Accord while his wife drove on Highway 69 North in Colmesnil on May 26. Bradberry's wife attempted to make a left-hand turn into a private driveway when Fox attempted to pass her on the left, striking the Accord, according to the complaint.
In addition to his injuries, Bradberry incurred medical costs; experienced physical pain, mental anguish, suffering and disability; and lost his normal life, the suit states. He also endured physical impairment, the complaint says.
Bradberry blames Fox for causing the collision, saying he negligently failed to yield the right-of-way, drove inattentively and drove too fast.
In his complaint, Bradberry seeks damages in excess of the minimum jurisdictional limits of Jefferson County District Court, plus pre- and post-judgment interest and other relief the court deems just.
Clay Dugas and Reginald Blakeley of Beaumont will be representing him.
Judge Bob Wortham, 58th District Court, has been assigned to the case.
