Seeking to collect nearly $16,000 for unpaid steel materials, Service Steel Warehouse has filed suit against the Premcor Refining Group, doing business as Valero Port Arthur Refinery.
The suit was filed Aug. 7 in Jefferson County District Court.
According to the lawsuit, Valero contracted with Southland Steel Fabricators to construct steel structures at the Port Arthur refinery.
In turn, Southland ordered steel materials from Service Steel. However, despite notices, Service Steel was not paid the $15,989.01 owed for the materials supplied, the suit states.
Now, Service Steel seeks enforcement of a mechanic's and materialmen's lien it placed after not receiving payment, the suit states.
The plaintiff is suing to recover actual damages and court costs, including attorney's fees.
The company is also seeking pre-judgment and post-judgment interest, according to the lawsuit.
Houston attorney Travis Newport of the Murray Lobb law firm represents the company.
Judge Bob Wortham, 58th District Court, has been assigned to the case.
