The relatives of a recently deceased man have filed suit against the doctors who they blame for his death.
Geroldine Hunt and Linda Dolman claim their son and husband, Roderick Dolman, died on May 18, 2010, due to the negligence of defendants Christus Health Southeast Texas, doing business as Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth, and Drs. Nathaniel Jefferson Alford and N. Jefferson Alford.
"Christus had a further duty to supply the required equipment and instrumentalities for the care of its patients," the suit filed July 30 in Jefferson County District Court states.
"Christus also had a direct corporate duty to see that its nurses and healthcare providers in the labor and delivery department were competent and adequately supervised and trained."
The plaintiffs do not specify how the hospital staff was negligent, but say Roderick Dolman died because of his treatment while at the hospital. Because of Roderick Dolman's death, the plaintiffs incurred medical and funeral costs, the suit states.
Before his death, Roderick Dolman experienced mental and physical pain and suffering, according to the complaint.
The plaintiffs seek actual and exemplary damages, plus pre- and post-judgment interest, costs and other relief the court deems just.
