A Beaumont woman has filed suit against the driver who she claims rear-ended her vehicle.
Kelly Smith Doucet claims she was stopped at a red light at the intersection of 11th Street and Fannin Street in Beaumont on Aug. 6, 2010, when defendant Calvin Wayne Anderson failed to stop and struck the back of her vehicle.
Because of the collision, Doucet experienced severe physical pain and suffering, lost wages and her earning capacity and incurred medical costs, according to the complaint filed Aug. 6 in Jefferson County District Court. She also suffered physical impairment, the suit states.
Anderson negligently failed to control his speed, failed to maintain control of his vehicle, failed to exercise due care, failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to pay full attention, failed to keep a proper distance between his vehicle and Doucet's and failed to timely apply his brakes, the complaint says.
In her complaint, Doucet seeks a judgment in excess of the minimum jurisdictional limits of Jefferson County District Court, plus pre- and post-judgment interest, costs and other relief the court deems just.
Clint Brasher and Joe Muckleroy of Beaumont will be representing her.
The case has been assigned to Judge Bob Wortham, 58th District Court.
