Slip & fall brought against H-E-B, 'life altering' injuries alleged

Adams III

A slip-and-fall lawsuit was recently filed against H-E-B Grocery Co. over "life altering" injuries a woman allegedly suffered nearly two years ago.

Area resident Bleinda Dill filed the suit on Aug. 17 in Jefferson County District Court, seeking to recover damages for her alleged injury.

According to the lawsuit, on Sept. 7, 2010, Dill was walking down an aisle at the Beaumont H-E-B when she slipped on a liquid substance on the floor.

The suit argues that the substance posed an unreasonable risk of harm and that the defendant knew of condition by virtue of an employee who was occupying a merchandise display not far from the site.

Dill allegedly injured her wrist, shoulder, hip, back and spine when she fell.

The injuries are "life altering in nature," according to the lawsuit.

H-E-B is accused of negligently failing to provide a safe place to shop.

Dill is seeking an award of exemplary damages.

She is represented by the Law Offices of Gilbert T. Adams in Beaumont and attorney Gilbert T. Adams III.

Judge Donald Floyd, 172nd District Court, is assigned to the case.
