Defendant driver who struck kid riding bike settles for 20K

Bicycle crash

A defendant motorist who allegedly struck a minor out riding his bicycle has opted to settle the lawsuit for $20,010.

On behalf of minor Henry Foward, Stephanie Sims filed suit against Easter Adams on Aug. 8 in Orange County District Court.

According to the lawsuit, on May 6, 2006, Foward was riding his bicycle when he was stuck by a vehicle being driven by Adams.

The suit accused Adams of failing to keep a proper lookout.

Court records show that on Aug. 8, the same day the claim was filed, a final judgment was entered in the case, stating that although Adams denies any liability he would be willing to pay $20,010 on behalf of the minor.

The judgment states that $11,461.69 be paid to Sims and her attorneys and that $8,548.31 be paid into the court registry for the use and benefit of Foward.

Beaumont attorney Hart Green of the law firm Weller, Green, Toups & Terrell represents the plaintiffs.

Judge Dennis Powell of the 163rd District Court presided over the case.
