GALVESTON - Dickinson resident Rene Lopez is suing Alvin local Amber Lyn Ronning Rodriguez after the latter failed to sign a special warranty deed.

A lawsuit filed Sept. 21 in the Galveston County Court at Law No. 2 explains that Lopez purchased a car for Rodriguez earlier this year, however, the defendant refused to transfer her rights to the property to him.

Both parties last Jan. 21 signed a contract which called for the transfer in question in exchange for the plaintiff buying a 2008 Chrysler Model 300 for $20,000 paid in cash and providing $4,672.47 as a loan.

Court papers show Lopez gave Rodriguez the aforementioned deed to sign last month, but she "at the time refused to sign,... and continues to refuse."

Consequently, the complainant requests that Galveston County Court at Law No. 2 Judge Barbara Roberts issue an order compelling Rodriguez to turn the rights over as well as the return of the subject vehicle or a refund of the $24,672.47 used in the transaction.

He also sues for attorney's fees.

Attorney Benjamin Sky Brown with Mabry, Herbecks & Roberts in Texas City is representing Lopez.
