Bertie Mae Reese has field a petition for temporary restraining order against the city of Beaumont in hopes of saving her home.
The petition was filed Sept. 25 in Jefferson County District Court.
According to the petition, on April 9 the city held a hearing and, over the protest of the plaintiff, issued an order to demolish an unsafe substandard structure at 3036 Bolivar.
“For the harm and damage to plaintiff that is threatened by the city, without the intervention of the court, plaintiff has no adequate remedy at law,” the suit states. “Plaintiff is currently in the process of repairing said premises …”
In addition to the TRO, Reese is seeking a temporary injunction and declaratory judgment.
Beaumont attorney Eddie Schroeder represents her.
Judge Gary Sanderson, 6oth District Court, is assigned to the case.
