Area residents Mike and Brenda Dobson are suing Ford Motor Co. and Energy Country Ford, alleging the defendants sold them a lemon.
The suit was filed Oct. 22 in Jefferson County District Court.
According to the petition, the Dobsons purchased a 2008 Ford F-250 from Energy Country Ford in Port Arthur for approximately $32,000.
“Plaintiffs have had numerous problems with the vehicle,” the suit states. “Since the purchase, the vehicle has encountered an excessive number of defects … including radiator, coolant leaks, diesel … blowing smoke and low power.”
The suit does not state when the plaintiffs purchased the truck but does accuse the defendants of violating the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act.
The plaintiffs are suing for actual and consequential damages, plus attorney’s fees.
Dallas attorney Craig Patrick represents them.
Judge Bob Wortham, 58th District Court, is assigned to the case.
