Woman cuts leg on bedframe, sues Hampton Inns

Hampton inn 150x150

Alleging it was the hotel’s fault she cut her leg on a bedframe, Sara Root has filed suit against Hampton Inns and Intercoastal Property Services.

The suit was filed Nov. 9 in Jefferson County District Court.

According to the lawsuit, on March 19, 2011, Root was a guest at the Hampton Inn off of Interstate 10 in Beaumont.

While moving about the hotel room, she struck part of a broken bed frame “covered and hidden by bed linens” and tore her skin, the suit states.

The defendants should have known of the danger and remedied the dangerous condition, according to the lawsuit.

The suit further accuses the defendants of failing to properly seat the mattress on the bedframe.

On top of exemplary damages, the plaintiff is suing for her alleged past and future medical expenses, mental anguish, pain, impairment and disfigurement.

She is represented by the Law Offices of Gilbert T. Adams.

Judge Bob Wortham, 58th District Court, is assigned to the case.
